This hand-carved ebony bust is of a woman of the Fulani tribe in Guinea, West Africa. The tribal identity of the woman is determined primarily by her hair style which is characteristic of the Fulani people, whose hairstyles are well-known among African people and the variety of which is legendary. 5 3/8 x 3 7/8 x 2 3/4″ (14 x 10 x 7 cm)
